Can I make a reservation for a unit? 

YES, you can make a reservation request online or give us a call anytime to let us know, even after hours, at 616-874-8989. If you don't see the unit size you are looking for online, give us a call to help. 

Do you take preventative measures for pests?

Yes! We do our absolute best to prevent and minimize issues around pests in the unit. We also ask out tenants to make sure they are not storing any items that may attract unwanted guests. We also recommend items being stored are in safe enclosed containers to avoid any issues. If you see any potential signs of pests please let us know ASAP so we may address the problem.

When can I move in? 

Anytime! Our Central office is open M-F 9am-5:30pm. Stop by anytime to rent a space. Need a space after hours or on the weekend? No worries! Give us a call anytime, even after hours, at 616-874-8989 to move in to a unit immediately.

Can I rent month-to-month?

All of our drive up storage units are rented on a month-to-month basis. You may use the space for as little as you like or as long as you need. *Please note that our Lake Bella Vista RV storage location runs on a discounted annual basis only.

When is my rent due?

To keep things simple and easy to remember, rent is due on the first of every month. At move in, your first month will be prorated.

How do I pay my monthly bill?

We try to make paying your bill as easy as possible! We offer Autopay services, You can also make an online payment on our website by clicking "Pay My Bill.” We can accept a credit card payment over the phone or in person at our office (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover). You can also pay with cash, check, money order, or cashiers check. There is a secure drop box located near the entrance keypad at 4700 Courtland Pt NE Rockford MI. for after hours deposits. If mailing a check, please send all mail to our Central Office address at 4700 Courtland Pt. NE., Rockford MI, 49341.

Selecting a Unit

What size storage unit do I need?

Check out our size guide or give us a call to get a recommendation. *Please note that all sizes listed are approximate sized units. Unit size will vary slightly depending on construction and style/type of building.

What type of storage unit should I choose?

Indoor Temperature Controlled Units - Heated and air conditioned. Perfect for sensitive items like antiques and electronics.

Standard Storage Units - Similar to your personal garage, you are able to drive right up to the storage unit to load and unload.

RV, Boat and Camper Storage - Pull through and back in spaces available at multiple locations in Rockford!

What are the access hours?

You will have access to your unit from 6am to midnight 365 days a year at all of our sites.

Will my items be safe and secure?

We do our absolute best to maintain clean and safe facilities for our customers. We have gates, fences and security cameras to give you peace of mind. To secure your unit, we offer high quality locks for only $14.99. You are welcome to use your own lock as long as the lock is secure and is a “Disk Style” lock like ours.

What about insurance?

In an effort to offer the best possible service to our customers, we do require that you have insurance to cover your belongings while storing with us. If you do not currently have insurance, we can offer you monthly tenant insurance at a minimal cost. We do not require you to purchase insurance through us. Check with your home owners or renters insurance policy to see what they cover and what options they have. Many times your personal policy will already cover your items while in storage. Please provide us with your proof of coverage (or declaration page) to info@rockfordselfstorage.com at the time of rental.

Additional Questions

Will I have someone to contact if I have an issue or question after hours?

Yes! We do our best to answer our phones on the evenings and weekends. If we don't answer right away, please leave us a voicemail and we will be sure to reach back out shortly. 

Do you sell boxes and other moving supplies?

Yes! We have boxes, bubble wrap, tape, mattress covers and other helpful moving supplies available for purchase in our office at our Central office location.  

How much notice needs to be given before move out?

We require a minimum of two weeks notice prior to move out. If you give us notice before the 1st of the month we can prorate going into that next month to save you money on the move out. 

Do you offer discounts for long term storage?

Yes! On our month to month storage options, we can offer a 5% discount if your prepay for one year and a 3% discount if you prepay for six months. Call the office for details. *Please note that this discount does not apply to our Lake Bella Vista storage location because these spaces lease on an annual basis and are already at a discounted rate. 

Do you offer discounts for military?

Yes! We can offer a 5% discount on a unit to active service members. Please call the office for more details. 

Do you offer handicap accessible units?

Yes! We have ADA Handicap door kits available. If you would like a Handicap accessible door, please ask our office staff and we are happy to install a kit for you. Our goal is to make storage simple and easy for everyone!

How tall is a storage door and ceiling?

Our garage style units have a door clearance height of 7’ and some up to 8’6” ft. Once inside the unit, ceiling heights can get up to 12-14’. Unit sizes and height vary by location. Contact a manager to help find a unit to fit your needs at one of our locations.

Are there any items that I am not able to store? 

Liquids, explosives, flammable liquids, lithium batteries, toxic materials and perishables. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding a specific item.

Is my price guaranteed as long as I stay? 

We work hard to provide a value to our customers through pricing that is fair and by maintaining clean, safe, and secure facilities with exceptional customer service. Please keep in mind that your original monthly rate is not guaranteed for the life of your rental. From time to time, we may find it necessary to make adjustments to our customers’ rental rates in order to keep up with rising costs associated with managing a storage facility. We do promise, however, to give you proper advanced notice if we decide to make any changes. 

Can I change to a different size if I've already moved in?

Of course! Just stop by our office or call to let a manager know and they can help you pick from our available units and find the best new size that will work for your needs. 

Do you provide moving carts?

Yes, we have moving carts available to help you move in at our Central office location.
